Letter S

We practiced sharing this week!  We read stories about sharing and made friendship bracelets. Each child was given a baggie of one color of beads and a pipe cleaner.  They practiced asking other children to share and offering to share themselves. Some of the children made patterns with the beads.  All of them really enjoyed this activity!

Practicing our hand muscles skills.  Cutting, cutting, cutting.

Using tweezers to develop hand muscle skills and sorting colors.

Cutting.

Writing letters in salt.

Sewing shape cards.

Doing puzzles, and sharing, and waiting patiently for our turn.

Squares!  We cut squares of all different colors from strips of paper.  We were creative with the way we  glued them onto our papers.  Some children made little patterns while others simple created a pretty mosaic-like picture with with their favorite colors.

Shape blocks.  This activity is an early math activity.  Children develop spatial-relational skills, pattern skills and creative skills, while learning geometric shapes.

Sensorial exploration with shaving cream.  Children love the smooth feel of shaving cream.  We also wrote letters in the shaving cream, developing our fine motor skills.

We practiced scooping with spoons.

Science project.  We learned about the force of gravity and jumped off the porch step.  We pulled on the rope together, also learning about force.

Letter T

Marshmallow Towers
We practiced our creative thinking skills and discovered the best ways to build marshmallow castles.  Some of the children built other things like necklaces, people and horses.
Our marshmallow towers helped emphasize the letters M and T and their letter sounds, and we had a lot of fun!

Snack time!  We are practicing our manners and we are getting better at pouring our own water.

 Quiet reading time.

Practing our fine motor skills and our letters with chalk.

Treasure Hunt!
We went on a treasure hunt using a map.  We followed the numbers on the trees and around the park.  We counted together from 1-12.  The
children are learning to recognize the numbers.

At the end of our treasure hunt we found the number twelve and we found a Treasure.  We love fruit snacks!
After the treasure hunt, we read a letter T book, played at the park.  Then we walked back to preschool (we also practiced crossing the street safely by stopping-looking- and listening).

Letter M

We practiced writing our names, had circle time, story time, art, and music time, snack time, outside play time, and building time.
We practiced writing the letter M and we learned the sound that it makes.  mmm.   Review this with your child.  Point out the letter M when you see it, and be sure to have your child do the worksheets I sent home.

Marble Painting.  We put marbles in paint and rolled them around on our letter M papers.  We are compiling an alphabet art book for each student.

 Magnet playing.

 Letter M play dough.

Eating snack together, relaxing, talking and practicing our manners.

We worked on making marble mazes, building with blocks, and building with the train tracks.

The children worked hard to build the train tracks together.  They are learning to take turns and to communicate with each other.
