Thanksgiving

We had lesson on the pilgrims and the indians.  We learned about the first Thanksgiving feast.  We drew pictures of things we are thankful for and we made thank you cards.  We then sorted feathers and made patterns.  We made some basic two color patterns and some more complex patterns.

We made painted with feathers, made Turkey hand prints and Indian head bands.  We also decorated turkey cookies with frosting.  The kids did pretty well with the frosting bags.

We played turkey bowling.
 We played Balloon Volleyball.

We dressed up and acted out the story of the pilgrims and the indians.  Then we went on a Turkey Hunt to the tune of "Going on a Bear Hunt"  and then we "ate" the turkey in a great Thanksgiving Celebration.

Letter B- Baking

We went to the Grocery Store Bakery for our field trip.  The head baker demonstrated how to frost a cake and how to make flowers with frosting.

They also showed us in the meat department how they grind meat and how the machine weighs and packages the meat and slaps a price tag onto it.

We listened to the story of The Little Red Hen as we mixed and shaped our own dough into bread.  We put it in the oven and ate it for snack. YUM!

We made bubble paintings by putting some dish soap and water into paint.  We then blew bubbles and put our papers onto the bubbles. Our pictures turned out pretty cool.  Not all the kids wanted to make bubble paintings, so they played with play dough.  We also pretended to be bakers and restaurant owners in the play kitchen.

Letter C- Caterpillars

We learned the letter C. We each took turns pulling a letter C item out of the bag.  I wrote the name of the item up on the board and each child circled the letter C in the word.  We are developing our phonic awareness.

We learned the life cycle of the butterfly and acted it out being a little caterpillar.  We crawled around and ate leaves and got bigger and bigger and then we spun cacoons and sat inside for two weeks and went through metamorphosis and then came out as beautiful butterflies.

We made critters!  The kids loved cutting out circles to make critters.  We also used clothe-pins to make our critters stand up.

We learned how the colors mix to make purple, green, orange and brown.

Letter P

I caught a few cute picture of the kids at the Corn Maze Field Trip.  We had fun going through the corn maze, sliding down the slide, and riding the barrel train to the pumpkin patch where we each got to pick out a little pumpkin.

When we got back from the corn maze, we had snack and made glitter pumpkins with our water bottles.

We made potato print paintings for our alphabet books.

We also painted our t-shirts, made letters with play dough, and did puzzles.

The kids made little ghosts with chocolate chips and bananas.  This was supposed to be part of our snack for our Halloween Party, but we didn't have time.  So we ate them on Thursday instead.  :)

The kids loved playing in our giant pile of leaves!  They made a large pile at the end of the slide for each child to slide down into the pile.  We love Fall Time!
